History

South West Seeds was founded in 1981 by John McCubbin and Adam Begg. We specalise in supplying Grass Seeds offering farmers mixtures specially formulated for conditions in the South West of Scotland. The company services Dumfriesshire, Ayrshire, Wigtownshire and Lanarkshire.

In 1989, Stewart Bryson joined the Company. Having graduated from Edinburgh University in 1984 with an Honours Degree in Agriculture. Stewart had already gained experience in the Seed Trade having worked for 5 years with Sinclair McGill PLC and ICI Seeds.

The company continued to expand further and Ian Lawrie joined in 1996. Ian also graduated from Edinburgh University with an Honours degree in Agriculture in 1984. Ian had considerable experience in the agricultural supply trade having worked with West Cumberland Farmers and A.F. Feeds.

David Kidd has had a lifetime in the Agricultural Seed and Chemical trade. David was a director of Sinclair McGill with responsibility for the agrochemicals. His extensive knowledge of the trade has been a great asset to South West Seeds Ltd. David is based in Ayr and services many of the leading cereal growers in Ayrshire.

In January 2003, David Campbell joined South West Seeds Ltd. David is based in Lanark and covers Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and Dumbartonshire. Having worked for 20 years with Bowie and Aram & Carrs Billington Agriculture, David has wide experience in the agricultural supply trade.
